A probe into my inner doodah. |
Ok.
Artists of all forms.
Pretend that ALL the current models of distribution don't exist.
You have your finished product in your hands.
You want to get your product into the hands of people who you think
will enjoy it.
Where do you start?
Think about that.
Work out a way of getting your product out.
Is there a platform that will do that for you?
Yes? Cool use it.
No? Create it!
Now.
Start your brain again.
Go!
Renee got me a book on etchings by Gustave Doré which is fantastic because I'm obsessed with him at the moment.
And she also got me a print of a Goat eating his tie because I love Goats. Goats are choice. Renee got the print from her pal Ginny at Swonderful, Ginny said that the artist who did the print is a Vegan! And Ginny is also Vegan so double Yay!

Dropbox is online storage with a folder stored locally on as many
machines as you like. 2Gb Free or 50Gb Pro. Just save to your local
folder and it updates across all machines, and you have web access as
well.
Extremely useful! I give it 5 Hooves!

Ok it's no secret that I love This City Sunrise, They are an amazingly talented band of young chaps. It won't be everyones cup of tea, but if you enjoy technical music, rawking out and you potentially have ADHD then TCS is for you.
They renewed my faith in local bands tbh, they showed me that there still is good music coming out of Wellington, and the hipsters haven't raped it which is good, I won't mention that they have moved to Melbourne. (Disillusionment I believe).
I have played them others who suffer from the same disbelief as me and have all had the same reaction ... WOW!
Anyway. Hit that shit! You won't be disappointed, unless you're suffering from Lames Disorder.
Their first EP is also available from their blog. And they have a Facebook page so you can become some lame fanboy/girl like me.
Heres the first EP for easy access:

Music pressed up his own series of 10" Vinyl. He's done most of
them in a Limited run of coloured vinyl as well as std black. I have
gushed to anyone within earshot about the quality of the vinyl.
It's really low priced too! the same price you'd expect to pay for
standard floppy 12"

It just goes to show that with a bit of passion you can achieve
anything you want!
I was talking to a work mate who has had a lot of interaction with
major labels from a band point of view, a pretty high profile NZ band
at that, they tried to get some nicely packaged vinyl made for one of
their albums, the labels response was pretty much "No that's not
possible".
To me these 2 instances some the state of the Music Industry to me.
I checked out my photo stats.
My most looked at photo by almost 3 times is this one:

And yet no one has commented on how awesome it is.
:(
I noticed the other day that all Telecom Broadband plans come with a Flickr Pro account.
I've used this Posterous account maybe 1% of the amount that I've used my Tumblr account, yet I get about 400% return from Google Alerts from Posterous.
