Most artists try to 'break ground' so why not 'break ground' with distribution/audience access.

Ok.

Artists of all forms.
Pretend that ALL the current models of distribution don't exist.

You have your finished product in your hands.
You want to get your product into the hands of people who you think will enjoy it.
Where do you start?

Think about that.

Work out a way of getting your product out.
Is there a platform that will do that for you?
Yes? Cool use it.
No? Create it!

Now.
Start your brain again.

Go!

Paper Anniversary Presents

Today is Renee and My paper wedding anniversary.
I had trouble picking a present because I wasn't allowed to buy a book as a present.
So I painted/constructed an art piece on paper.

It is constructed using the Van De Graaf Canon which uses the Golden Ratio to determine how the Gutenberg Bible was laid out.
The left hand side represents me because I'm all about angles and ratios and science and shit, and the right hand side represents Renee because she is an artist and more grounded (you can't quite see in this pic but it's colourfield with a texture and gradient, oh and I painted it using a miniature roller and a template made from card.
It came out really well except I fucked it when I did some touch ups, so I have to make a new one. :(

Van De Graaf Canon - Adrian Wallace 2009

Renee got me a book on etchings by Gustave Doré which is fantastic because I'm obsessed with him at the moment.

And she also got me a print of a Goat eating his tie because I love Goats. Goats are choice. Renee got the print from her pal Ginny at Swonderful, Ginny said that the artist who did the print is a Vegan! And Ginny is also Vegan so double Yay!

What's DropBox?

Dropbox is online storage with a folder stored locally on as many machines as you like. 2Gb Free or 50Gb Pro. Just save to your local folder and it updates across all machines, and you have web access as well.
Extremely useful! I give it 5 Hooves!

This City Sunrise - Sings In Unison EP

http://thiscitysunrise.blogspot.com/2009/03/for-example.html

Ok it's no secret that I love This City Sunrise, They are an amazingly talented band of young chaps. It won't be everyones cup of tea, but if you enjoy technical music, rawking out and you potentially have ADHD then TCS is for you.

They renewed my faith in local bands tbh, they showed me that there still is good music coming out of Wellington, and the hipsters haven't raped it which is good, I won't mention that they have moved to Melbourne. (Disillusionment I believe).
I have played them others who suffer from the same disbelief as me and have all had the same reaction ... WOW!
Anyway. Hit that shit! You won't be disappointed, unless you're suffering from Lames Disorder.

Their first EP is also available from their blog. And they have a Facebook page so you can become some lame fanboy/girl like me.

Heres the first EP for easy access:

The Passionate and Passionless

Presha from Samurai Distribution and Samurai Music pressed up his own series of 10" Vinyl. He's done most of them in a Limited run of coloured vinyl as well as std black. I have gushed to anyone within earshot about the quality of the vinyl.
It's really low priced too! the same price you'd expect to pay for standard floppy 12"

It just goes to show that with a bit of passion you can achieve anything you want!

I was talking to a work mate who has had a lot of interaction with major labels from a band point of view, a pretty high profile NZ band at that, they tried to get some nicely packaged vinyl made for one of their albums, the labels response was pretty much "No that's not possible".

To me these 2 instances some the state of the Music Industry to me.

I checked out my photo stats.
My most looked at photo by almost 3 times is this one:

And yet no one has commented on how awesome it is.

Telecom And My Flickr Pro Account

I noticed the other day that all Telecom Broadband plans come with a Flickr Pro account.

I thought I would check it out, so I snooped around the Telecom website and found this to be true, but I couldn't find any info about existing flickr accounts...

Now before you say of course they do dunce!
I have had my Flickr account and Broadband plan decades before the internet was even thought of.

So I emailed Telecom about whether it was possible to use my existing Flickr account.
24hrs later the response was:

Your existing Flickr account will have its own user name and password access. The free Flickr Pro account which comes with your Telecom Broadband service is accessed via your Yahoo!Xtra user name and password, so they are two completely separate services.

If you'd like to take advantage of your free Flickr Pro account, I'd suggest saving the files from your existing account, and then uploading them to the Pro account. Once that is done you can then continue to use your Pro account for all your photos and sharing.

They included a link for me to login and set up my new Flickr Pro account.
I did this BUT LO! WHAT IS THIS HERE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE?
A link that says Merge with existing account. *bing*
I clicked that link and it said login with your existing Flickr account.
Oh goody ... (Now to cut the length of this down I couldn't cause I couldn't remember the email account associated with Flickr, I thought it was my gMail account but no (I normally login with a username) So I decided to reverse engineer it)

Cut To The Chase
I logged into my existing account and went to settings then saw Use a different Yahoo! ID for this Flickr account near the bottom of the page.
Sign in with an existing account.
Entered my Telecom Account xtra.co.nz email and My Telecom password.
BAM!
DONE!
I'm not bitching. I'm just making this public so that if anyone else is in the same predicament they can find a solution.

Marginally Interesting

I've used this Posterous account maybe 1% of the amount that I've used my Tumblr account, yet I get about 400% return from Google Alerts from Posterous.

That is all. Go back to what ever it is you are doing.

p.s. I'm quite liking my Posterous account.
